9 Best Free Digital Signage Design Templates for Every Business

Dayana Mayfield

Finding the right design for your digital screens should not take half a day. I have watched businesses spend hours hunting through template libraries only to settle on something generic that does not reflect their brand at all. It is one of the most common friction points we hear about from Juuno customers, and it is completely avoidable.

That is a big part of why we built our Canva integration. Canva has over 4.5 million templates across every category imaginable, and through Juuno, you can access them directly and push your finished designs to your screens without jumping between platforms. In my experience, that single workflow change saves teams a significant amount of time every week.

That said, 4.5 million options is its own kind of problem. So I put together this list of the templates I think are genuinely worth your time, across the use cases I see most often. For each one, I have explained what makes it work and how to actually use it, so you can get something live on your screens today rather than spending another afternoon browsing.

How to create and display your digital signage designs

At Juuno, we believe digital signage should be accessible to any business, regardless of size or budget. You should not need a design team or a technical background to put something polished on your screens. I have seen a 10-person café nail their digital signage strategy just as well as a 50-location retailer, and the process is the same either way.

Here is how to do it properly from start to finish.

Step 1. Define your communication goals

Before you open a single template, decide what you actually want your screens to do. Are you promoting products, sharing announcements, displaying a menu, recognising employees, or building brand awareness? Your goal shapes everything that follows.

Also, think about your setup. You have more flexibility than most people realise. You can:

  • Display a single piece of content continuously on a screen

  • Run a playlist of content that rotates automatically

  • Show multiple widgets side by side in different zones on one screen

  • Schedule different content to play at different times of day or week

  • Mix all of the above across different screens in your location

I always encourage businesses to think about this before touching any design tools. A clear plan saves a lot of rework later.

Step 2. Choose a template that fits your desired layout

Once you know what you are communicating, pick a template based on layout first. Do not get distracted by fonts and colors at this stage because those are easy to change later. What matters is the structure. Does it give enough space to your main message? Does it support images or video if you need them? Does it work at the screen size and orientation you are using?

For instance, let's say you want to showcase photos of your employees, customers, or a recent event. It's better to choose a layout you love, like the cool collage below, rather than focus on the colors, which can be changed more easily.

Step 3. Customize your design

Once you find one you like, click "Use this template" and make it yours.

Swap in your brand colors, update the fonts, and replace the placeholder content with your own. If you are creating digital signage regularly, such as weekly menus or recurring announcements, a Canva paid plan is worth the investment. It lets you save your brand kit and apply it instantly to new designs, which makes the whole process significantly faster. If you are only designing a few times a year, the free plan works fine.

Before you publish anything, get a second set of eyes on it. Share it with a teammate for a quick review and approval.

Step 4. Add the content to your digital signage schedule

Head to your Juuno dashboard and add your finished design to a content playlist. Then assign that playlist to your screen, either as a continuous loop or as part of a , that plays at specific times or dates. From there, it runs itself.

The last thing I always remind people is to keep content current. An outdated promotion or last month's menu does more harm than no signage at all.

When you start to transform your chosen template, take a moment to consider some design tips for any changes you want to make. And, don’t forget to choose the right content manager for displaying your designs. For those of you that are new to the game, here's what you’ll need to get your digital signage up and running.

Frequently asked questions

How many templates should I use across my screens?

Less is more. Sticking to two or three complementary layouts creates a consistent visual identity across your screens. Rotating through too many different templates makes your signage feel disjointed and harder to read. Pick a core set that fits your brand and build from there.

When should I use zones versus a full-screen layout?

Use zones when you have genuinely different content that benefits from being visible at the same time, like a menu alongside a social feed or a promotion next to live announcements. If your content works better sequentially, a full-screen playlist is cleaner and easier for your audience to absorb.

How often should we be refreshing our digital signage designs?

Seasonal promotions and time-sensitive content should update as soon as they change. Brand and awareness content can stay longer, but I would review everything quarterly at minimum. Stale signage trains your audience to stop looking. Keeping things current is what makes screens worth having in the first place.

Should we design different templates for different screen locations?

Yes, if the context is different. A lobby screen talking to visitors needs a different message and tone than a breakroom screen talking to employees. Designing with the specific audience and dwell time of each location in mind will always produce better results than a one-size-fits-all approach.
